Now is your chance to be a record executive! We are planning to make our first full length album and want YOU to be an owner. That's right, an owner... listen to pre-release demos, make marketing suggestions, vote on songs, work on album artwork, view ALL the photoshoot photos, attend the private parties, invites to the recording studio, AND MOST IMPORTANTLY... RECEIVE YOUR SHARE OF THE PROFITS!
This is your chance to be a part of a new ground-breaking idea in rock-and-roll! (At least we think we're the only ones to have ever done this before). The plan is to put together an album on the same caliber as any band on the charts today. Once we do that, we plan on working our way up the charts and pushing ourselves on radio stations! There's nothing we can't do, but we can't do it by ourselves, we need your help. We need to raise money... we need you to spread the word... and we need help doing all sorts of other cool things record execs do. We welcome you to be involved as much or as little as you can handle.
Here's how it will work:
1) Sign-up up by reading this page then filling out a form so that we have your information on file. This will make sure we have your information so you can get paid! Next. purchase the "Album Project" from our shopping cart. Adjust the quantity to determine how much you'd like to invest the project.
2) Once signed up, we'll hook you up with our secret website where you can hear the demos, share your thoughts, vote on issues, find out what you can do to help, and keep up with everything that's going on. If you don't have a computer, let us know and we'll figure something out. :)
3) Check the site every once in a while or every day (it's completely up to you). There will be many situations where we will need your feedback and there will be lots decisions to vote on, so check back frequently.
4) We'll need lots of help with promotion. We'll have special codes you can paste into your myspace page to help out. We'll have jobs posted for people who want to help in other ways! If nothing more, please spread the word... the more people on the team the better!
5) Plus lots more to come. The only way to find out is to join now!
Here's what you get by signing up:
We can offer a lot of cool things to everyone who signs up. Based on how many shares you purchase... we've got a variety of things we can offer. Please keep in mind that you don't have to purchase your shares at the full amount all at once - you can add more to your account anytime. When voting on issues and/or songs, your vote is worth the same percentage as your percentage of ownership.
PLEASE NOTE: We do not claim that the "bonuses" below are worth the dollar value listed for that level of ownership. The real value is in the money you will receive when the album sells well. Everything else listed below is only our way of thanking you for your support.
| What does "Your share of the profits" mean? |
| Once all the expenses from making and marketing the album have been paid, all the money left from the sale of the CDs will be profit and split among all owners, based on the percentage money invested. |
|   |
| How is this project different from how record labels normally function? |
Normally, a record label would front all the money needed to produce an album. A band would typically split only 5% - 7% of the money made from the sale of CDs, but ONLY after ALL the money the record label has invested has been paid off. It is not uncommon for many bands to NEVER see money from the sales of their CDs. This is a major part of the "unfairness" of the music industry you hear so many people talking about... especially when bands' efforts are worth much much more than 5%.
In our situation, we (Debbie and Mark) will be doing all the work of the record label, running the business side of things, making contacts, producing all the marketing materials, and programming website "widgets" people can paste into their myspace pages for promotion, and much much more... and this is all in addition to all the normal band stuff like writing songs. This work, (in materials and time spent/manual hours) is normally what a record label will spend it's money on. In our situation, we (Debbie and Mark) will take NO money from the amount raised/invested. We only ask for a fair share of the profits to compensate our time and resources invested. We ask that we each be compensated with 25% of the profits to pay for our time and hard work. Again, we want no money up front and we'll take NO money out of the amount raised... we only ask to be paid if we do our jobs and the CD sells well. |

| How much money do you think I can make? |
Of course this depends on all the people involved. If we find some people that want to help with marketing and everyone will post some things on their myspaces pages, we're pretty sure we can do well. The more people who help promote, the better! Plus if we can raise enough money for radio promotion and a publisist, we're pretty sure we can turn this whole project into big news.
Anyway, here's an example of what we think can happen:
We raise $20,000, hopefully covering all expenses. We sell 5000 CDs in the first year at $10 each. If you invested $100, you would get back $125. If you invested $1000 you would get back $1250. That's a much better return than the stock market! Plus this deal doesn't end until all the CDs are sold, you you'll have to make a profit! |

Where the Money goes:
A lot of ideas, effort, and marketing goes into making a great album. Our budget plans are high. It's going to take a lot of money to do this right, and if we do, there is potential to make a good deal of profit... and we can promise "your" album will hit the Billboard Charts. Once signed up, you will be included in discussion as to how to best spend the money we've raised. Here are just a few areas that will need to be included in our budget:
- Studio Recording
- Album Producer / Musicians
- Mixing
- Production/Duplication of CDs
- Public Relations Agent
- Marketing of CDs
- Radio Promotion
Where are we at now:
Right now, we're at the very beginning. We see the project coming together in 5 Phases.
Phase 1: Promotion. Get people to sign up for album project. Raise money & recruit more owners. Begin song writing. Find corporate investors. Initial song ideas posted to site.
Phase 2: Build Industry Network. Continued promotion and fundraising. Demo songs available - continued writing. Find an album producer and/or other industry contacts willing to help out. Continue posting song ideas.
Phase 3: Start planning album specifics. Begin decisions as to what songs will be included on the album and how and where to record/produce the songs. Continued promotion, fundraising and writing.
Phase 4: Recording & mixing of album. Demos and rough mixes posted on site. Continued promotion and fundraising. Album artwork decided.
Phase 5: Album release. Major promotion and marketing efforts. Push for radio airplay.
